Other than the initial grind put into Overwatch, I have been fairly hands-off the game, only jumping in for a few rounds once-in-awhile to catch up on the current status of the game. Of course, with Blizzard’s latest edition released at the end of June, I may find myself hopping into the fray once again.

Announced June 28th, Blizzard officially released its newest hero, Wrecking Ball, for testing on the PTR servers. The “Wrecking Ball” of course, is a mech housing the real star of the show, Hammond.

Hammond was teased for a long time since he turned up ‘missing’ in one of the many lore videos. Coming from the same lab as Winston, many people assumed it would be another type of monkey character, but all of that speculation was completely wrong. The surprise twist is that this whole time, the missing creature is actually a hamster.

Players who choose Hammond will get to control his creation, the Wrecking Ball. This robot provides high maneuverability, including a Grappling Hook, allowing players to grab ledges and freely swing around the map as a literal wrecking ball.

I look forward to giving this hero a test run, but I’m curious to hear what you think of the latest contestant. Are you worried he may wreck the balance, or are you excited to have a ball with the latest contestant? Let us know in the comments below!
