Dead Cells is procedurally generated RogueVania that has been in Early Access on Steam since May 10th, 2017. The developers at Motion Twin have been taking in feedback and support from Early Access players to refine the game for release. After over a year, the game is finally ready to leave Early Access, and onto the platform of your choice.

Embracing the Metroidvania inspiration to heart, the game consists of many weapons and upgrades to assist players in their journey through the game. As players collect Cells throughout the game, they’ll be able to exchange these for new weapon types or permanent upgrades. Upon death, players will restart at the beginning of the game, but branching paths, unlockable weapons, and permanent upgrades are enough to keep players engrossed for a long time.

I’ve played the game when it launched in Early Access, and loved every second of it. The game is difficult, shows no mercy, and I loved every moment of it. The steady progression in this game feels natural, and had me feeling I could get “just a little bit further” after each death.

Dead Cells releases on PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Switch for $25.
