Sega’s statement on upcoming San Diego Comic Con 2018 indicates a tease for “…some surprise announcements” are in store.
In preparation of the Sonic the Hedgehog Comic Con 2018 panel tomorrow on Thursday, July 19th, the official website was updated to include some information on what attendees can anticipate, including information about the comics and upcoming games. One thing to note from this statement is the tease of “…some surprise announcements” in store. The panel description can be seen below in full:
Sonic The Hedgehog has raced back into comics, bringing old enemies and new friends along for the ride. IDW editors Joe Hughes and David Mariotte, artist Evan Stanley, Sega licensing specialist Michael Cisneros, director of product development Austin Keys, and head of Sonic team Takashi Iizuka discuss comics and upcoming games, make some surprise announcements, and more!
Within the last year or so, I’ve enjoyed the renewed vigor Sonic the Hedgehog has been experiencing in entertainment. From the unexpectedly positive reception of the Sonic Boom cartoon, mixed with the critically acclaimed Sonic Mania, it appears Sega is starting to take their mascot a bit more seriously.
What do you think of the surprises? Is there anything you’re hoping to see from these announcements? Let us know in the comments below!
