In the wake of all the great announcements during the latest Nintendo Direct, one of the best surprises we saw was the reveal of Nintendo’s official wireless NES controller for Switch.

Right on the heels of showcasing the NES games included in members’ Nintendo Switch Online subscription, Nintendo revealed its new wireless NES controllers. The controllers will come in a package of two, allowing players to share the nostalgia alongside their friends and family. The controllers will slide right onto the sides of the Switch for charging, and will wirelessly pair with your Switch.

Wireless NES Controller

According to the official page, when the controllers do launch, Nintendo disclosed the following: “Limit one purchase per Nintendo Account with paid Nintendo Switch Online individual or family membership. Offer not available for trial membership.”

This implies that your Nintendo Account will only be eligible for a single set of controllers. This may change in the future, but is certainly important to note when looking for gifts this holiday season. The NES controllers will release in mid-December for $59.99.

Though it’s interesting these can only be purchased from users who have an online subscription, a part of me feels like this is a great way to avoid the ongoing supply issues Nintendo seems to experience. But what do you think of the announcement? Will you be picking these up for yourself? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
