In the wake of a surging ‘Royale’ trend hitting the video games industry, Pixile Studios is switching the formula up with their upcoming game, Super Animal Royale.

Super Animal Royale is a top-down 2D “fight for furvivial” game, set on an island full of “exotic biomes, psychotic animals, and giant hamster balls. The game is currently in Alpha, and scheduled to arrive for PC / Mac on Steam October 2018.

As with other ‘Royale’ games, players will scavenge through a variety of areas to build up their arsenal of weapons as they attempt to be the last furball standing. The top-down perspective is a differentiator to the generally First-Person-Shooter form these games generally take, but as seen in the trailer below, does not seem to take away from the bloodbath that ensues. As seen from Pixile Sutios’ Press Release:

Pixile Studios presents Super Animal Royale, a top-down multiplayer survival shooter for up to sixty-four adorably murderous Super Animals. Engineered to charm and trained to kill, Super Animals are cute enough to make you go “Aww” and deadly enough to make you go “Ahhhh!” Select your favorite from a menu of foxes, pandas, kitty cats, and other bloodthirsty beasts. Parachute into the ruins of an ill-fated safari park and fight off a lethal barrage of bullets, explosives, and silly dancing. Enjoy carefully balanced run and gun gameplay combined with an intuitive fog of war system that restricts a player’s view to line of sight, allowing for sneaky, strategic play. Explore a beautiful 2D world, inspired by classic top-down adventure games. Cut tall grass and loot abandoned structures in search of the guns, explosives and health juice you’ll need to reach the top of the food chain.
