During a recent press event in Japan, producer of the upcoming Warriors Orochi 4 game, Masaki Furusawa, was presented an official certificate from Guinness World Records for having the most playable characters in a hack-and-slash game.
First announced back in March, Warriors Orochi 4 is a crossover game, pulling in characters from the universes of Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors. The latest crossover draws in a total of 170 playable characters from throughout both series’, ensuring everyone has a character that fits their playstyle.
Warriors Orochi 4 features the first appearance of magic abilities, and introduces players to five playable gods – Zeus, Ares, Athena, Perseus and Odin, along with the return of co-op multiplayer.
The game will release across North America on October 16th for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
TGC’s Thoughts: It’s crazy to think developers can cram 170 characters into a single game like this. Though characters in Warriors games tend to feel relatively similar to each other, it is still great to see the producer get the recognition for such a feat.
